6 Facts About Dekton You Didn’t Know

6 Facts About Dekton You Didn’t Know

Have you heard about the new material called Dekton that utilizes advanced particle technology to produce the very latest in glass, porcelain, and quartz work surfaces? This technology is taking the market by storm and creating possibilities for new designs at an impressive rate. To find out more about this amazing material, check out these six facts about Dekton!

Zero Porosity

Dekton features zero porosity, which means that it doesn’t need to be sealed — ever. In fact, due to the nature of the treatment, you’ll never experience any defects or weak spots. Plus, it naturally prevents liquids and gasses from penetrating through the surface.

Available in Various Formats

Dekton slabs are huge — 320cm by 144cm, to be exact. This opens up the possibilities for large kitchen countertops or floor tiling. Dekton also comes in either 8mm, 12mm, or 20mm thickness which makes it a prime candidate for many applications.

UV Resistant

Dekton is also highly resistant to UV light. It will never fade or degrade over time, making it the perfect application for outdoor and indoor use, especially near a window.

Scratch and Stain Resistant

You won’t have to worry about your kids being around your Dekton materials. It’s the most scratch-resistant surface on the market — not even a knife will damage it. Dekton is also stain proof, so if you accidentally spill wine or coffee on it, all you need to do is wipe it away, and it’ll still look like the day you bought it. You can even spill bleach and vinegar on it, and it won’t fade or mark.

Resistant to Extreme Temperatures

Fire, heat, and cold are no match for Dekton. Even if you accidentally place a hot pot on your countertop, the high temperatures won’t damage the material. Dekton is a unique fireproof material that is thermal shock-proof in both hot and cold extremes.

More Durable than Granite

We all know how durable granite is, but did you know that Dekton offers five times the strength over granite? It’s even more resistant to abrasion and wear and tear than any other material on the market. In fact, the finish will last for the life of the product and it will never have to be re-finished or re-surfaced, even when used on a driveway or walkway.

Dekton is an amazing, new surface material that can be used in all different types of spaces, interiors and environments. At Granstone, we are pleased to offer our clients this amazing application for their kitchen, worktops, flooring, cladding, and more.
